The Elixir of Eros: Embodied Relationship with the Earth

Breathe.... be breathed. Slow.... slow down. Your heartbeat ... the loudest sound.
During our two days together, we'll tap into the true nature of Eros and use various shamanic means that include our sensual intelligence to connect with spirits of the Earth, including ourselves. Our purpose will be two-fold: to become more erotically alive and connected as sensual beings of awareness and to reorient our creative process and presence on our planet.
By becoming more alive this way, we deepen our ability to create sane space around the unavoidable pain and grief of living. In tandem, we also increase our capacity for true pleasure, delight and contentment. With the freedom this aliveness generates, we are no longer so intimidated, numbed or swayed by the circumstances we experience in the moment; we more fully occupy our sovereignty.
By reorienting our creative process, we can invite the wisdom of Eros to fully resource us. In doing so we shift from a human-centric focus of relying primarily on our own desires, conditioned perceptions and will for what we wish to create in the world and how we're going to do it, to an Earth-based dynamic that is grounded on our lovingly tended relationships with the spirits of the Earth and asking them what is needed from us: What can Mother Earth support at this time? what are her current resources? what needs to be balanced? in what ways can we work together? what will benefit the whole? When Eros moves us, we're no longer imprinting our human energetic signature on the planet simply from an egoic perspective but from the embodied, relational awareness that acknowledges our true place as one of the many species on an alive, conscious and evolving planet.

The true nature of Eros is not limited to our sexuality; indeed when it is imprisoned in the bedroom, the distortions rise into much of the abuse and destructiveness we experience. Rather, Eros is active, loving engagement with all parts of life from all parts of ourselves--body, feelings, spirit, mind---to such an extent that we no longer even make such conceptual distinctions. Eros is utter presence; it is radical interrelationship where we bring our fullest aliveness to a moment, a being, a place. Fully eroticized humans, from their visceral knowing of joy, love, pain and grief---which together create ecstasy---cannot allow starvation or war; cannot allow greed or fundamentalism; cannot allow the rape of this Earth or any kind of abuse. Eros is the loving energy that flows through our universe and if we consciously invoke and embody it, we can better align ourselves with the wisdom and ways of this beautiful Earth to heal ourselves and our creations.
