ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Do you feel called to connect deeply with Earth? Do you feel a relationship with nature that you want to share with others? Do you want to be part of creating an Earth-connected culture that provides a just and safe place for all humans and species? At this time of profound challenges to all of life on Earth, people that feel called to heal the separation between people and nature are needed more than ever before. Ecopsychology is a broad field that provides visionary ideas and field-tested methods for healing this human/Earth split.  By teaching the ideas and skills of ecopsychology, our program prepares facilitators to help heal the relationship between people and the planet.

The Ecopsychology Training Program is a ten-month course of study leading to certification as a group ecotherapy facilitator. Students learn through online modules and face-to-face workshops. Created and led primarily by Dr. Elizabeth Meacham, the program features other nationally and internationally known faculty.

Ecopsychology is a contemporary movement that blends psychology with environmental thought. Practitioners help others to intentionally connect with the natural world to increase physical, psychological, and spiritual wellness. The field of ecopsychology provides a center to a wide web of interwoven ideas and practices focused on healing the human relationship with Earth. We will delve deeply into the literature and ideas of our topics online, as well as learn ways to apply them in practice through life-enhancing and soul-stirring experiential workshops.

Join us on this immersive, life-changing course of study, growth, and healing!  Contact program chair, Liz Meacham, with any questions and the program dates: emeacham at lakeerieinstitute.org, or 216-409-3375.
"LEI's Ecopsychology course has been more than an educational course, it's been a life course! As much as I've learned about how and why to help others reconnect with nature, I've learned so much about myself and my spirit and I think that has only been possible because of the welcoming, open and extremely supportive environment created by Liz and the cohort. We all have a goal of guiding people "back to the garden," in all senses of that phrase, and it is beautiful watching each other grow and drawing on inspiration from one another. As I apply lessons in my life, I have felt more deeply connected to the earth around me and explore ways to deepen this connection through different healing modalities and ways of thinking as introduced by some of the wonderful teachers LEI brings in to speak. All of the teachers are happy to be with us and that makes the learning so much more meaningful. I find myself truly missing my classmates between meetings and therefore I know I have found friends that I will work with well into the future. This course has offered me new and exciting perspectives as I clear off my life path and I am eternally grateful for the opportunity."
